I pulled out of the Challenge a few weeks back as I wasn't going to be able to take the required amount of time off to take part.
The good news is that I've got Thursday and Friday off, so that I can use my ticket. The plan is to walk a bit of the West Highland Way, although I've already done this route, and may be bag Ben Lomond.
The thing about this trip is that the last time I ventured out along the WHW, only a couple of years back, I did it in boots and carrying a Gregory Z55 rucksack. This time I'll be wearing my trusty Terrocs and using a Golite Peak; a 40l 'day' pack! My kit has changed and evolved but the most important thing is the knowledge that I've gained since then. As someone once put it, 'The more you know, the less you carry.'
I wonder who I'll bump into at the station tomorrow evening?

Baz: Lord Elpus, Andy walker & I will be on the 23:50 sleeper from Euston tomorrow night bound for Glasgow. Will be dining at 'Pasta Plus' in Eversholt Street at around 8:30pm if you are interested?
Have a great trip if we don't bump into each other.
Liam and I are booked on the same one :) Are you going to be in Pasta Plus all evening? Or will you move to a pub at some point?
Have fun on the walk, I reckon it is going to be hard to see all the folks go on the TGO. But you got your kit well down, a nice route planned, so I am sure you'll enjoy the few days in the wild =)

Scotland in May has to be done. Have a good walk Baz.
Good for you. Hope it is good.
Hey, I bought a Hilleberg Nallo 4 GT last week - and yes it is huge. But intend to use it for family backpacking as well as good general tent. 3.3 kilos and can sleep four in comfort so I reckon not bad.
